(WJBK) - Tuesday, Nov. 24 is Michigan Adoption Day. It's held every year the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Currently, more than 13,000 children are in the foster care system, and more than 2,000 of those children are ready to be adopted.
Adoption events are planned at Oakland, Macomb and Wayne county courthouses. Some of these events finalize adoptions, while others are informational events about the adoptive process. Others are parties for adoptive families. Click here to find an event near you. Courthouses across the state are participating.
Michigan Adoption Day is co-sponsored by the Michigan Supreme Court, Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange, and the Child Welfare Services Division of the State Court Administrative Office.
