Stolen vehicle crashes during Michigan police pursuit
Livingston County Sheriff deputies pursued a stolen vehicle on I-96 before the suspect lost control while trying to exit the highway. Both the male driver and his female passenger were injured and taken to the hospital. The male suspect was also turned over the U.S. Marshall Service.
(FOX 2) - A 34-year-old mid-Michigan man was turned over to the U.S. Marshal Service after he was arrested by Livingston County Sheriff's deputies following a high-speed chase on I-96.
The chase happened in the late morning of Jan. 27 after police tried pulling over a 2014 Kia Forte. It had been reported stolen out of Lansing.
What we know:
The driver refused to stop while traveling eastbound on I-96 near Pinckney Road before eventually trying to exit onto Kensington Road.
The driver lost control and flipped the car, leading to both him and a female passenger suffering serious injuries.
They were transported to the University of Michigan Hospital for treatment.
What we don't know:
The suspect, who had an outstanding warrant and was turned over to the U.S. Marshals, has not been identified.
It has not been determined what his warrant is for or what charges he could face. The prosecutor's office is expected to bring additional charges against the male suspect.
The extent of his injuries is also unknown.
