Missing Ashley Elkins: Police say 'foul play' possible at apartment of ex-boyfriend

ROSEVILLE, mich. (FOX 2) - It's been six days since a 30-year-old mom of two was last heard from and Roseville Police say they have reason to believe ‘foul play’ happened at an apartment linked to the case.

Ashley Elkins disappeared last Thursday, Jan. 2., after sending a text message to her family while running errands.

Now, six days later, officials say they have reason to believe something happened at an apartment in Roseville that could be connected to her disappearance.

What happened to Ashley Elkins?

Elkins was last heard from last week when she sent a text saying she was heading back from a beauty supply store. No one has heard from her in more than a week, something that is out of character for her.

"She loves her family, her kids. She would never just disappear for this many days," her sister Alexis Elkins said.

Her family has been out looking for her since then.

Those family members have been suspicious of her ex-boyfriend since she disappeared. According to her family, her phone last pinged near her ex's Roseville apartment.

As police search for 30-year-old Ashley Elkins, investigators said there 'was a strong possibility of foul play involved in this incident.

What did police say Wednesday about Ashley Elkins' disappearance?

On Wednesday, Roseville Police provided an update saying that investigators have executed nearly 20 search warrants on the case, so far, and have searched video, digital evidence, and conducted multiple interviews.

Investigators were at the apartment of Elkins' ex-boyfriend in Roseville on Tuesday. Roseville Police said, during the search, it was determined that there ‘was a strong possibility of foul play involved in this incident’ and that something likely happened within the city of Roseville.

According to police, when they were initially called, they said there were indications that Elkins was at the apartment. Roseville Police immediately responded and said Elkins nor her ex-boyfriend were at the apartment. 

Also on Wednesday, police confirmed what FOX 2 had learned on Tuesday from sources – that Elkins' vehicle was found in the area of 13 Mile and Little Mack in Roseville, less than four miles away from the apartment that was searched.

Elkins lives in Warren.

She is a hairstylist and mother of two boys and was last heard from on Thursday, Jan. 2, when she texted a family member that she was heading home from a beauty salon.

What evidence has been found in the Ashley Elkins case?

Police have canvassed several area businesses for video and utilized digital forensics to help determine where Elkins could be.

Police also said they seized a trash dumpster from the apartments as part of the investigation.

The Roseville Police Department is taking the lead on the case with Warren Police assisting. 

Police are asking or patience for investigations to continue in the case.
