DETROIT (FOX 2) - As power is being restored across Michigan, more than 526,000 DTE Energy and Consumers Energy customers are without power Thursday as severe thunderstorms moved through Southeast Michigan.

As of 9:30 p.m. Thursday, DTE Energy is reporting 522,609 outages and says that 1,979 crews are working in the field, according to its outage map.
Consumers Energy says 4,332 outages are affecting 184,873 customers.
Consumers also reports that it has 550 crews in the field from seven states including New York, Tennessee, and Missouri.

Severe thunderstorm warnings preceded a heavy round of rain in Metro Detroit Thursday morning.
What started as heavy gusts of winds Wednesday afternoon turned into a heavy string of inclement weather with thunder and lightning early Thursday. Road closures and traffic jams soon followed before clearing up by mid-morning.
