Mother of murdered children thanks public for support in statement

DETROIT (WJBK) - Four children murdered in their own home while their mother was tied up, tortured and forced to watch.

Now Faith Green is thanking everyone for their support as she prepares to bury her babies. Wednesday is the first of three days dedicated to their memory.

A community is coming together to say goodbye to four children gone too soon, so senseless, such violence, such sorrow.

"I can't imagine anyone doing this level of cruelty to anyone - and I find it to be one of the most deplorable things I've ever seen," said Ozie H. Pye IV.

Pye, is the executive director at Pye Funeral Home - where visitation is underway for the siblings: 4-year-old Kaleigh Green, 5-year-old koi green, 17-year-old Kara Allen and 19-year-old Chadney Allen, Jr.

The children were murdered one week ago by their father and step-father Gregory Green - who is also accused of shooting and torturing his wife, Faith Harris Green, who had planned to speak to the media Wednesday.

"Miss Faith Green is not up to addressing the media," said family spokesman Lloyd Banks said. "She's not up to coming out today. She had a really bad night and an even worse morning and so she will not be here or the family."

But the family did release a statement to the community:

"She would like to thank all who have contributed expressed their love towards their family and at this very difficult time," Banks said. "This homecoming celebration would not be possible without the love support and generosity of so many."

So many who have donated, like the Pye funeral home which supplied the caskets and services - but also everyday people who offered condolences and prayers.

"One of the things she wanted, was to make sure everyone understood and knew this was about her children," Banks said. "And that was the main message - she didn't want them to be forgotten in all of this."

The children - far from forgotten - as a community pays its respects - remembering the children - and supporting the family.

"They're taking this very hard," Pye said. "In the beginning of course Faith was in the hospital and now that she's out, I understand that it's very rough for her - and we just want to keep her lifted in prayer at this time."

Visitation continues from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pye Funeral Home, 17600 Plymouth Road. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Detroit First Church of the Nazarene, 21260 Haggerty Road, Farmington Hills. The public is invited.
