Multiple kids taken to hospital after school bus rear ended in Detroit

Multiple kids were taken to the hospital Monday morning after their school bus was involved in an accident on Detroit's east side.

Detroit Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell tells us eight kids were on board a school bus when it was rear ended by a mini van near Lafayette and Chene. Fornell says nearly everyone involved was taken to the hospital for evaluation but that it appears no one was seriously injured.

The crash happened earlier this morning in the area of Lafayette and Chene. The bus was en route to Marcus Garvey Elementary School. Fornell says all the kids on board were under the age of 14.

The bus driver tells us she had just made a stop at an apartment complex and was driving eastbound on Lafayette when she stopped to make a Michigan left, and was rear ended. She's not sure why the driver didn't stop.

Fornell says one adult and a 15-year-old were in the mini van.

Fornell says all the children and the two people in the mini van were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
