Nephew arrested by Troy police for murder of aunt
TROY, Mich. (WJBK) - The Troy Police Department has arrested the nephew of a woman who was found dead inside a home.
Troy Police said via Twitter that they were searching for a man in a murder on Shoreline Drive, just east of John R. and south of M59. Troy police said the suspect is a 20-year-old Indian man with a thin build.
Troy police were called to the home around 2:30 Monday afternoon. Police said the woman was killed in the basement with some kind of weight-lifting equipment, possibly a barbell.
When police arrived, the suspect was in the home next door and jumped from a second floor window.
"We had a K9 officer do a track we tracked him to the golf course," said Capt. Robert Redmond. "Some of the officers found a boot he had been wearing with blood on it. About an hour later (during the search) an officer spotted the man hiding in the weeds and took him into custody without incident."
A short time later, Troy police said they arrested the suspect. Video from SkyFOX showed police arresting the man on the golf course behind the home.
