Police investigate a crash on the northbound lanes of M10 at Lahser on Sunday, Sept. 29.
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (FOX 2) - A wrong-way driver and a second driver are both dead after a crash on M10 at Lahser on Sunday.
Just after 5 p.m., police were called to the northbound lanes of The Lodge (M10) at Lahser for a serious crash.
Police said a 74-year-old man was driving the wrong way when he hit another 74-year-old man. The first man died at the scene. The second was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In a release from Michigan State Police, they said 911 calls started coming in about the wrong-way driver at Evergreen just before the crash.
"Troopers from Metro North will continue to investigate this crash." said First Lt. Mike Shaw. "Right now it has not been determined where the wrong-way driver entered the freeway or if impairment was a factor. The investigation pends vehicle inspections and medical examiner reports."

Wrong-way crash on M10 closes freeway betwen Evergreen and Lahser
A wrong-way driver in the northbound lanes of M10 hit another car head-on Sunday evening, forcing police to close the freeway.
A witness told FOX 2's Camille Amiri she saw the car going the wrong way but did not say how the car would have gotten on the freeway.
Dakota Turner was right behind the car that was hit. She told FOX 2 she narrowly avoided being hit herself.
"The car – I saw it coming towards us," Turner said. "It just hit the car right in front of me and then the car just exploded there was smoke everywhere."
Both cars involved had airbags deployed at the site of the crash.
The highway was closed for several hours so police could investigate. Around 9:15 p.m., M10 was reopened to traffic.
