Oakland University will be closed for severe weather Thursday morning
(FOX 2) - Oakland University is preparing for the worst by canceling classes ahead of winter weather that's expected Thursday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday for all of Southeast Michigan.

Oakland University classes are canceled Thursday morning due to incoming severe weather expected to arrive overnight.
The university announced on social media that it will be shut down from 5 a.m. until noon to accommodate winter weather that's forecasted for Thursday morning.
Only essential services will be operating during the time.
An advisory put out Wednesday afternoon warned of an approaching ice storm that could make roads slick and dangerous to drive on.
As a result, all scheduled classes will be canceled tomorrow morning.

The National Weather Service has ordered a Winter Weather Advisory to be in effect from 10 p.m. Wednesday night to 9 a.m. Thursday morning. Areas under the advisory include cities from the I-69 corridor in mid-Michigan to the Ohio border.
Ice accumulations are expected to be a tenth of an inch with more sleet and snow likely to fall as temperatures fall.
