One dead, two injured in multi-vehicle crash on Garfield and Adelaide in Macomb County

One person is dead, and two others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Garfield and Adelaide early on Monday afternoon.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office said on Monday that at 1:52 p.m., they were called out to the intersection of Garfield Road and Adelaide Drive in Maqcomb Township for a crash.

The incident happened between 22 and 23 Mile Roads, where witnesses told police that a blue Jeep Compass was driving west on Adelaide at high speeds when it went through a stop sign and crashed into a semi-truck. Police say a third vehicle, a white Ford Escape, also crashed into the semi when attempting to avoid the incident.

Macomb County officials say the driver of the blue Jeep died on the scene and was the only one in the car. Meanwhile, the semi driver and the Ford Escape driver were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials did shut the road down at 2 p.m. and it was reopened at 8 p.m.

Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
