Pastor who shot, killed man in church won't be charged
DETROIT (WJBK) - Authorities have decided not to charge a Detroit pastor who shot someone in his church two months ago.
Police say the victim, 25-year-old Deante Smith, was shot at four to five times by 36-year-old Keon Allison, who is the pastor at The City of God. The victim's friends had said he was going to the church to confront the pastor about having affair with his wife. Police say Smith confronted Allison and attacked the pastor with a brick.
Authorities have determined there is insufficient evidence to charge Allison, and that he acted in lawful self defense.
The City of God church is on Grand River Avenue hear Lahser Road.
No one else was hurt during the attack or the shooting.
