Pedestrian killed after getting out of disabled vehicle on Southfield Freeway
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A pedestrian was hit and killed Sunday morning when he got out of his disabled vehicle on the Southfield Freeway.
Police said the vehicle was broken down on the southbound side of the freeway north of Plymouth Road in Detroit. When he got out of the vehicle around 5:25 a.m., he was struck by another vehicle, which caught fire after the crash.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver who hit him stopped. They were not hurt, but they were taken to a hospital for a blood draw.
As of 9 a.m., southbound Southfield Freeway is closed south of I-96 for the investigation.
