Person hit, killed by garbage truck on Detroit's east side

DETROIT (WJBK) - Authorities are investigating after a person was hit and killed by a garbage truck on Detroit's east side.

We're told the 42-year-old garbage truck driver was headed southbound on Cadillac from Harper Avenue when a person stepped out in front of the truck. 

Emergency crews responded to the scene and pronounced the person dead. 

Police haven't said yet if the victim was a man or a woman. 

Police say the garbage truck was from Premier Truck & Sales Rental Inc.
