Detroit Police announced over the weekend that a 21-year-old man who claimed he was raped and robbed at gunpoint by another man last week, made up the entire story.

The man told police he was stopped at Cadieux and Harper when someone approached his car. Police said the man told them that the other man had a gun and demanded he open the passenger door.

He told police the man then forced him to drive to an ATM while a second vehicle followed behind. When they got to the ATM, the man said he was forced to withdraw money and hand over cash. Then, the man said he was told to drive to a secluded area where he was raped.

However, over the weekend, police told FOX 2 that the man's story didn't add up and they came to the conclusion that his story wasn't true.

Police say he could be charged with filing a false police report. Police did not offer motive for the man's story.
