A Pontiac man was robbed and shot by the person he called after allegedly stealing $12,000 from a co-worker.

According to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, Arthur Crayton, 25, robbed his co-worker on Jan. 10. Crayton then called 30-year-old Jamarieai Burns for a ride.

When Burns arrived, authorities say he took about $4,000 from Crayton before shooting Crayton in the hip.

"The victim will be prosecuted for his own alleged crimes, but those crimes don’t justify what happened to him," said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald. "Jamarieai Burns is a repeat offender. We intend to prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law. Every victim is this case in entitled to justice."

According to McDonald, Burns is on parole for armed robbery.

Crayton also has a criminal record. According to court records, he is on probation for unarmed robbery, and previously was convicted of larceny.

Burns was charged with assault with intent to murder, while Crayton was charged with larceny in a building.
