'A Christmas Story' Q&A

  • Friday, Dec. 13 from 4-7:30 p.m., screening at 8 p.m.
  • Emagine in Rochester Hills

Join "A Christmas Story" actors Zack Ward (Scut Farkus) and Yano Anaya (Grover Dill) for a question and answer session before a streaming of the classic holiday film.

Motor City Possum Rescue Chili Cookoff Fundraiser

  • Sunday, Dec. 15 from 3:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Ferndale Elks Club

Enjoy chili while helping wildlife at this fundraiser benefiting Ferndale-based Motor City Possum Rescue.

The event will also include baskets for auction.

Canterbury Cookie Crawl

  • Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15
  • Canterbury Village in Lake Orion

$2 gets you cookies from around the village. Stroll the shops as you sample the treats.

Only 1,000 cookie crawl tickets are available on a first come, first served basis, but the village will be open for browsing for those who don't get a card.

Wayne County Lightfest

  • Wednesdays through Sundays through Dec. 24
  • Hines Park in Westland

Take a drive through miles of lights in Wayne County's Hines Park.

This tradition begins Thursday and continues through Christmas Eve. Halfway through the drive, you can stop to get a bite to eat from food trucks and visit with Santa on select nights.

Tickets are $5 cash per passenger vehicle. Buses, mini-buses, and commercial vehciels can also visit the Lightfest for an added fee.

The property of Eloise has been transformed into a magical, bright drive-thru in sync with music.
