Slick road conditions around Detroit

There were crashes reported near Ford Street as well as Telegraph at I-96 as commuters awoke to slippery conditions in Southeast Michigan.

Snowy conditions and blustery wind are creating hazardous conditions for drivers in metro Detroit.

While bridges and overpasses are expected to be the most slick, driving around the region is slow going everywhere - and that's without people crashing.

As of 7 a.m., there was one major wreck creating problems on I-96 at Telegraph for those traveling eastbound into the city.

Winter Weather Advisory: Southeast Michigan waking up to snowy morning, blustery conditions

Commuters should plan ahead and expect their trip to work to take longer than usual thanks to a snow band that dumped and continues to dump flakes across Southeast Michigan.

However, there is also congestion at interchanges located at I-75/I-696 and at I-94/M-39.

With the National Weather Service warning of wind gusts up to 35 mph, there is also visibility issues to be wary of.
