Rochester Hills Congressman Mike Bishop defeats challenger Suzanna Shkreli
ROCHESTER HILLS, MIch. (WJBK) - Congressman Mike Bishop defeated Democrat Suzanna Shkreli on Tuesday night to secure a second term.
Bishop will return to Congress to represent Michigan’s 8th District.
“I am honored to have earned the voters trust and support to continue serving the state of Michigan,” Bishop said. “I will work to find common sense solutions to the challenges Michigan families face every day.
“In my first term I looked for common ground to solve tough problems,” Bishop said. “Over the next two years I will continue that commitment as we work to create jobs, fully fund our military and police, and make education more affordable."
Shkreli, an assistant Macomb County prosecutor, stepped into the race after after "Little House on the Prairie" actress Melissa Gilbert dropped out.
