ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -
A Roseville man has been charged after his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter died earlier this year.
Authorities in Macomb County say Jonathan Jones was watching his girlfriend's daughter while she was at work on Wednesday, May 3. Authorities say, during that time, Jones abused 4-year-old Ivy Yurkus to the point that she became unresponsive and was in clear medical distress.
Authorities say rather than calling 911, Jones drove Ivy and her two step-siblings to Outback Steakhouse, where her mother, Amanda Yurkus, was working.
Authorities say Jones told his girlfriend and the authorities that Ivy had been complaining of stomach pains.
Someone at the restaurant called 911 and emergency assistance arrived and rushed Ivy to the hospital. She died early the next morning.
Investigators later determined Jones was responsible for Ivy's stomach pains, and that he had struck her in the stomach.
Jones has been charged with felony murder, and first-degree child abuse.
