Royal Oak business owner proposes renaming road after Lions Coach Dan Campbell
ROYAL OAK, Mich. (FOX 2) - As the Detroit Lions celebrate their major victory over the Vikings, A local business owner is looking to rename a road after Head Coach Dan Campbell.
Business owner Kris Powell works in Royal Oak, but hopes to add to get the city to rename Campbell Road to Dan Campbell Road.
"Sunday after they crushed the Minnesota Vikings. I said we gotta do this," he said.
The idea even gained the attention of Royal Oak Mayor Michael Fournier.
Powell says even if the Lions lose in the playoffs, he still wants the road name to be changed.
"Look what Campbell's done for this franchise," said Goff.
The formal application has already been made to the city but to change the signs it would cost about $10,000.
"I’m gonna try to raise that money from other businesses here in Royal Oak," said Powell.
Will Coach Campbell need a little push to be on board for the idea? We will see.
The Lions are in their bye week before taking on either the LA Rams or facing the Vikings for a third time in the NFC Divisional Round.
This comes after defeating the 14-3 Vikings for the #1 Seed in the NFC on Sunday.
On Tuesday Coach Dan Campbell gave some injury updates - including the good news that running back David Montgomery is expected back for the NFC Division Round of the playoffs.
