Royal Oak considers raising parking fees
ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WJBK) - The City of Royal Oak is considering a big increase to its parking fees.
In some parts of downtown, the proposal would raise parking rates by as much as 50 percent.
This would be Royal Oak's first increase in parking rates in nearly a decade. All the plan needs now is the approval of the City Commission.
The revenue is expected to help pay for a recently-built parking deck, and another parking structure slated to go up with the new City Hall development.
Birmingham and Ferndale recently raised their parking fees.
The City Commission is expected to give the final approval.
