A suspect involved in a Royal Oak police shooting died after being wounded Tuesday night.

Royal Oak police said that the suspect fled an attempted traffic stop and then went to White Castle at 13 Mile and Coolidge, reports Randy Wimbley.

The police spotted him, and at some point the suspect tried to drive at an officer's vehicle at the time of the shooting. It is unclear if before or after the shooting he drove at the officer's car.

After being wounded he drove away from the scene and crashed head-on into a van at 13 Mile just east of Coolidge.

He later died at Beaumont while the driver of the van, a woman, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
