Several arrests made in fatal Eastland Mall shooting

Police made arrests Tuesday  in connection to the Eastland Mall fatal shooting Dec. 26.

"Several arrests" were made according to Harper Woods public safety, taken into custody Tuesday afternoon at multiple locations around Detroit.

Chief James Burke confirmed the arrests had been made at different locations, at about 6:40 p.m.

Previously Harper Woods police had arrested another person in the shooting shortly after it happened. He was considered to not be the shooting suspect and released.

One day after Christmas 18-year-old Tyrell Lane was shot to death outside of Burlington Coat Factory store at Eastland on Vernier Road near Eight Mile Road.

Witnesses say it appears a group of people were fighting inside the mall before the shooting. However, police say they are not sure if an altercation lead up to the shooting.
