Sex offender kidnapped & raped co-worker for week in Upper Peninsula, FBI says

MARQUETTE, Mich. - An Upper Peninsula man with a previous conviction sexual crimes conviction now faces a federal kidnapping charge after holding a co-worker for several days following a fishing outing.
Eric Scott Ruska, 37, of Rumely was charged Monday. He's being held without bail after being arrested Friday at a Munising service station with the 28-year-old victim strapped into the passenger seat of his pickup truck.
FBI special agent Richard Grout said in a complaint filed in in Marquette federal court that the two went fishing July 8 on Chicago Lake in Delta County.
According to FOX UP, the criminal complaint says the victim asked after several hours when Ruska would be taking them back to shore. Ruska told the victim that he did not get her on the boat to go fishing, instead, he told the woman he was going to sexually assault her and that he would kill her and her family if she refused, the complaint said.
Grout says Ruska punched the woman and then sexually assaulted her on the boat.
After the assault, he dropped the woman on an island as he went back to shore to get his vehicle. He then returned on the boat to the island picked up the woman.
The complaint states that Ruska then strapped her to the front passenger seat with ratchet straps.
Grout says he then sexually assaulted her repeatedly as he drove through the Hiawatha National Forest, traveling through Marquette, Delta, and Alger counties.
On July 14, six days after the fishing trip, Ruska was arrested a gas station in Munising, about 33 miles north of Chicago Lake.
The criminal complaint says Ruska admitted to kidnapping and sexually assaulting the woman.
Ruska was taken into federal custody because the crimes happened on federal land.
He has a previous conviction of kidnapping and third-degree criminal sexual conduct in 2004.
