12-foot shark swims into Florida marina: officials
ORLANDO, Fla. - Marine specialists visited a Florida marina to assess a 12-foot mako shark that was spotted Friday.
The Hollywood Police Department posted on its social media accounts to warn locals of the shark and how to stay safe.

The Hollywood Police Department's marine unit was made aware of the situation, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was contacted, officials stated.
Reports show marine experts also came out to the location to assess the shark.
Officials shared that Nova Southeastern University's team, headed by shark specialist Derek Burkholder, towed the shark back to sea, where they hope it will recover and head back to its normal offshore habitat.

Police shared three simple tips for locals to stay safe when dealing with marine life.

- Avoid attracting marine life: Don’t swim with shiny jewelry or bright clothing that could mimic fish.
- Keep your distance: Do not approach or provoke marine life under any circumstances.
