Frostbite, infection and even death, winter is hell on the homeless. The neighborhood service organization or NSO is doing all that they can to help and they want you to help as well.

Level One Bank in Farmington Hills does have a fun committee and its community-oriented spirit is on display right there in the lobby. Over there, in that non-descript storage bin, something very important.

"Any socks, all types;  casual, dress, all ages, adults/youth, everyone needs socks this time of year and it is an item that doesn’t get donated very often in clothing drives, so any that the people can donate would be a great help to those in need,” said Nicole Ransom of Level One Bank.

Fox 2: “The warmer the better?”

Ransom: “Absolutely.”

Socks, as many as they can collect, preferably warm, destined for the feet of homeless men, women and children.

“This week is national homeless awareness week, so this is the best time around Thanksgiving when everyone is starting to be thankful for what they have, they can give back to people that don't have,” said Jennifer Villemure of Level One Bank.

It's worth noting that something most of us can take for granted, socks, takes on a whole new dimension when its 10 below outside and you're on the street. The bank employees understand that.

"Level One Bank really wants to play a part in helping the area and helping neighbors in need,” said Ransom.

Level One Bank is on Hamilton Court south of 12 Mile in Farmington Hills. Stop by with a donation they'd be happy to see you.
