SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) - A lot of hugs and tears today in Southfield as 40 Army reserve soldiers prepared to deploy to Afghanistan.
The Southfield-based 645th Regional Support Group is heading overseas.
The city held a send-off in a ceremony today for people to say goodbye.
The soldiers have been preparing for this mission for 6 months.
The mission for the soldiers will be to provide base operations support, which includes managing facilities and providing security.
