Speeding driver seriously hurt after rear-ending semi on I-75 in Detroit
DETROIT (FOX 2) - Police say a driver was speeding when she slammed into a semi-truck early Thursday in Detroit.
According to Michigan State Police, the 36-year-old woman was driving a Chevrolet Traverse on southbound I-75 near Schaefer when she rear-ended a semi around 2 a.m. The woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was trapped in her vehicle and had to be removed by firefighters.
She suffered serious injuries, while the truck driver was not hurt.
"This is another example of the preventable crashes we are seeing on our roads," said MSP F/Lt Mike Shaw. "Excessive speed combined with no seat belt use are two risky driving behaviors we are seeing way too much. Slow down and buckle up!"
