Metro Detroit substitute teacher accused of sending inappropriate messages to student

This investigation comes just one day after another staff member at a Metro Detroit school was placed on leave for inappropriate behavior at a Christian school dating back to 2016.

Police are investigating a substitute teacher who has been put on leave for allegedly sending sexually explicit text messages to a student.

This investigation comes just one day after another staff member at a Metro Detroit school was placed on leave for inappropriate behavior at a Christian school dating back to 2016.

The Edustaff employee was immediately removed from the high school, and a report was filed with Edustaff and the police department. We continue to investigate this matter.

One day after the Detroit Police Department opened an investigation into allegations stemming from a social media post that a former staff member at this Christian school allegedly molested a student, another member of the educational community is being accused of inappropriate behavior.

"It was just crazy, I mean like the whole school knew about in about it in a matter of an hour period," said student Jayda Sierra.

A substitute teacher at Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores is being accused of sending sexually explicit text messages to a student.

Sierra says she never received any messages from the teacher but has seen the alleged content.

"There were screenshots going around, there were text messages," she said.

Jayda’s mom is livid that something like this could take place at her teen’s high school.

"I think it’s absurd and uncalled, regardless of age or anything that they try to excuse," said parent Marisa Suszckiewicz. "It’s wrong."

The substitute was brought to the school through a staffing agency called Edustaff.

The company says on Dec. 17 it was made aware of a pending investigation concerning a student complaint against a sub-teacher employed by Edustaff working within Lake Shore Public Schools.

The company released a statement which reads in part:

"The employee was immediately removed from their assignment and placed on leave. At this time, they remain on leave status and are not permitted to work in any capacity under Edustaff while the investigation is pending."

The Superintendent of Lake Shore Public Schools also released a statement which reads in part:

"The Edustaff employee was immediately removed from the High School, a report was filed with Edustaff and the Police Department."

The Chief of Police for St. Clair Shores Police Department confirmed to FOX 2 that this incident is under investigation.

Parents want the authorities to crack down on this behavior and keep their children safe.

"I think they definitely need to bust down a lot more with teachers and substitutes, whatever they might be on how they are treating these kids," said Suszckiewicz.
