Sterling Heights PD release video of suspect chase, announce 3rd arrest
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (FOX 2) - A gunfight on the freeway, a police chase, a stolen cop car - this one really had it all. And now police have a fourth suspect under arrest.
Police dash cam video of that high speed chase through Sterling Heights and beyond Tuesday morning was released today.
Now a third person, Brandin Hubert, is the latest suspect under arrest. Police say there had been an altercation in Utica, and Hubert jumped in his Dodge Durango firing shots at Anthony Brown as he and two other men sped down M-59 in a Ford Fusion.
That was just the beginning.
"(There were) multiple 911 calls from people saying there's two cars on M-59, they're chasing each other - one guy has his hand out the window shooting at another car," said Chief Dale Dwojakowski Sterling Heights police. "So we have a rolling gun battle down the middle of M-59."
The men were firing their guns and driving at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Sterling Heights police give chase - the Durango pulls over with engine problems - the Fusion - keeps going.
Police say at one point, Marcino Lattner, a passenger - gets out of the Fusion, runs through a neighborhood as police try to chase him down - but he runs back to an idling squad car - and takes off.
Now there's another chase - a Macomb County Sheriff's Deputy performed a pit maneuver on i-94 near 12 mile forcing Lattner to finally stop chasing a stolen police car.
Meantime Warren police are now after that Ford Fusion - which finally stops in Detroit. Brown and another man take off running. Officers give chase - and Anthony Brown is arrested.
"Tremendous work by our guys - our investigators, detectives, our surveillance unit, our narcotics unit and the city of Detroit all working together had him in custody in a very short time. Excellent police work by all of our guy on the entire case."
Police say the three men in custody are facing a variety of very serious charges in a very chaotic case. Investigators are grateful nobody was seriously hurt - they are still searching for the third man in that fusion - anyone with information, contact Sterling Heights police (586) 446-2800.
