Suspect in EMT attacks to face more charges, including torture

Michael Montgomery is already headed to trial for attacking two EMTs with a knife but will soon be under trial for another crime: torture and rape.

Montgomery was arrested in October for attacking two EMS workers but once he was in custody, police said they were able to connect to him to a 10-year-old cold case.

The 30-year-old Detroit man was ordered to stand trial on Monday for using a box cutter to slash the faces of EMS workers last October. He was also order to stand trial in the murder of a 16-year-old girl. On Tuesday, even more charges were filed: kidnapping, torture, and rape of a woman in 2005.

The 33-year-old victim said on December 23, 2005 she was walking home from work when the rape took place. But since it's ten years old, does that make it harder for the prosecution? The defense attorney says it could be even if they have the testimony of the victim.

She's confident this is the right guy. She gave the cops good description of him and the boots in the snow that day made a reindeer print. Plus, she remembered what he said.

"If I was to look back he would kill me," the victim testified on Tuesday.

But it was the DNA from the rape kit that Detroit police matched, when he was arrested in the EMS slashing incident, proof that testing the rape kits, at long last, is working to get the men responsible behind bars.
