Suspects in Detroit liquor store shooting still at large
DETROIT - A Detroit woman is distraught after finding out the father of her children - Omari Robinson - was shot and killed last night outside the 5th Avenue Liquor store on Fenkell near the Southfield Freeway on the city's west side.
“I just talked to him. I just talked to him,” said Lala. “I didn’t know. I didn’t find out until his mother told me.”
Police identified two men - caught on surveillance video inside the liquor store before the shooting - as persons of interest. The video is very clear.
“He came up here every day. Anybody that knew him knew that. That's why I feel like they knew him,” said Lala.
Investigators say Robinson hit one of the suspects over the head with a glass bottle before the suspect shot and killed him.
The mother of his children says Robinson never caused any problems.
“He sells his DVDs, his CDs. He has his little drink, he doesn’t bother anybody,” said Lala. “He might be a little loud but he doesn't bother anybody.”
