Suspects' van found in abduction on Hamtramck-Detroit border
(WJBK) - Detroit police have made headway in the first of two separate cases of women being kidnapped in broad daylight on the Detroit-Hamtramck border.
Authorities say they have recovered a white van at Woodward and Euclid, just north of the New Center Area.
It's believed that van was used in the first abduction, when suspects drove around and sexually assaulted the 24-year-old victim.
Police say they kidnapped her around 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30. She was riding her bike at East Milwaukee and Orleans, just a few miles away from where the van was recovered.
The second incident was similar in nature. A woman was walking by herself on the Detroit-Hamtramck border near the Russell Industrial Center when she was kidnapped and robbed.
In both cases, the women were dropped off after the crimes were committed.
Detroit police and Hamtramck police are working together, trying to figure out if these two cases are connected.
