Families across Metro Detroit are getting their kids ready to head back to school in a few weeks. Getting your children back into a good sleep routine can be a bit of a challenge. However, Dr. Mariya Kopyrina a Family Medicine doctor from Henry Ford Health System says giving your children a choice may help. The first choice may be going to bed a little earlier every day. It would be about 15-20 minutes earlier a couple weeks ahead of time. Another choice would be to make more dramatic changes closer to the start date of school. Make the kids in charge of planning. Say, how would you like to do that? You have to give them paramaters that are reasonable such as "Do you want to start now or start two weeks before school?" If you limit options, then it will make it easier for them to make decisions. If you give them too many options, they get confused.
