'Don't move I will shoot you': Jewelry store owner talks robbery attempt, how dad's gun scared off suspects

Masked armed robbers could have easily wiped out an entire family inside their jewelry store, when suspects barged in.

"They came inside and holding the gun with a bag. it was a blue bag - and they have a hammer inside," said Ali Alasadi. "They came running."

The suspects wore masks and wigs, and Alasadi, the store owner at Mariam Jewelry on Schaefer Road, felt like he was in a movie.

FOX 2: "Were you scared when this was all happening?"

"Oh yeah, they held a gun and also they (shot it)," he said.

The store is a family business in Dearborn. And when this happened, Alasadi was there with his dad and 14-year-old brother, who thankfully was in the back the whole time - when these two men broke in last week.

"They shot, one shot and then they told us 'Don't move, I will shoot you," Ali said.

He was able to scramble to the back room – with a locked door.

"I run and I close the door," Ali said. "But I don't like it, because my dad was sitting over there."

His dad made a leap to get to safety too, in the back. The masked men swiped an entire wall of gold into a duffle bag.

"Around let's say, $250K," Ali said.

His father returned to the jeweler floor, with some backup this time.

"My dad, he opened the door, and tried to get the gun and shoot in the sky, in the roof," Ali said. "And one of them stand right there and aim (at) the door."

He was firing only warning shots. The coward robbers used the three female customers as shields.

"He don't want to shoot them he tried to scare them," Ali said.

They met their match, those warning shots were enough to scare the men out, but one dropped the duffle inside the shop.

"He told him to go back and bring the bag," Ali said. "Yeah, they are stupid."

They got away – and into a black sedan, a Mazda 3, believed to be a 2010 model year - with no plate.

It has Ali watching his back.

"If I go to a shop or I go to any places, I'm scared if maybe they know me," he said.

Crime Stoppers is now offering a cash reward for information leading an arrest in this case, if you know anything 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
