'This is terrorism': U-M regent's home, vehicle vandalized by pro-Palestine activists

Attorney and University of Michigan Regent, Jordan Acker was targeted again by pro-Palestine activists.

"They're not looking to 'Free Palestine' - they're looking to harass a Jew," he said.

At 2 a.m. Monday, as his family slept - someone threw mason jars believed to be full of urine through the front window of his Huntington Woods home - his wife's car was spray-painted with 'Free Palestine - Divest.'

"Showing up at a board meeting and screaming at me - that is your First Amendment right," Acker said. "Throwing mason jars through my window - and vandalizing my property - and terrorizing my children - is not your right. This is terrorism - it is criminal and whoever did this, should be going to jail."

Unfortunately it's not the first time. Back in May, a masked man posted a list of demands from the University of Michigan Gaza solidarity encampment on his front door.

Then in June, the law offices of Goodman Acker - were vandalized with black and red paint covering the outside of the building.

"Make no mistake - that targeting individual Jewish elected officials is anti-semitism," Acker said at the time. "It is unacceptable - it is un-American - and it must stop now."

Unfortunately - it hasn't stopped. And now his wife and three young daughters are living in fear.

Police have yet to make an arrest in the vandalism that happened in Southfield at the law office back in June.  This time around, Acker says he's hoping they are able to catch the people responsible.

"It's almost certainly the same people," he said. "There was an attack on the Jewish Federation Offices, an attack on President Santa Ono's private residence in West Bloomfield, almost certainly the same group of people engaged in these activities."

As for Acker, he says he will continue to serve on the board of regents at his alma mater, to do the work he was elected to do, and he's calling on others to publicly denounce these attacks.

"I was targeted at my home - at my office - because I'm Jewish," he said. "That is it."
