Detroit police kill armed man on city's east side; 1 other fatally wounded
DETROIT (FOX 2) - At least two people are dead from gunshot wounds on Detroit's east side, according to preliminary information from police.
Detroit police confirmed officers fatally wounded one of those involved in a critical incident late Monday afternoon.
Law enforcement was initially called to a home on Beaconsfield Street around 4 p.m. after a 911 call about a teenager being shot in the head came into the command center.
When they arrived on the scene, they were approached by an individual holding a firearm and pointing it at officers.
Police killed the gunman, they told FOX 2 hours after arriving.
A third person was taken to the hospital by ambulance, however their condition was not immediately known.
The scene was described as extremely volatile by police.
