Police kill armed man outside Detroit home

At least two people are dead and a third was rushed to an ambulance after Detroit police were called to a home on the city's east side Monday. Initial reports of a teen being shot in the head escalated when officers arrived, and found someone outside a home pointing a gun at police.

At least two people are dead from gunshot wounds on Detroit's east side, according to preliminary information from police.

Detroit police confirmed officers fatally wounded one of those involved in a critical incident late Monday afternoon. 

Law enforcement was initially called to a home on Beaconsfield Street around 4 p.m. after a 911 call about a teenager being shot in the head came into the command center. 

When they arrived on the scene, they were approached by an individual holding a firearm and pointing it at officers. 

Police killed the gunman, they told FOX 2 hours after arriving. 

A third person was taken to the hospital by ambulance, however their condition was not immediately known.

The scene was described as extremely volatile by police.
