Three suspects in custody after Detroit woman shot in driveway
(WJBK) - Two men were arraigned in court Monday in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Starkisha Thompson of Detroit, who was shot and killed in the driveway of her home last week.
Police say 26-year-old Kenneth Dixon and 39-year-old Corey Holmes are facing multiple charges, including first-degree premeditated murder and witness intimidating-committing a crime. Holmes is also charged with being a felon in possession and three counts of felony firearm.
Thompson was shot on October 9 outside her home on Collingham, police say. Her father, upset and angry, told FOX 2 that day why he believed his daughter was killed.
"She was pressed by prosecutor and detectives to testify against some people that carjacked her and it sure is coincidental now my daughter is dead," he said.
During the arraignment, it was revealed that Holmes is believed to be the alleged shooter. The prosecutor also revealed that both men are no strangers to crime and that Holmes was just released from the prison system.
A third person, 23-year-old Jah-Lana Streeter, is also facing charges in this case. She was arraigned previously and was remanded to jail. She is set to be back in court October 29.
As for Dixon and Holmes, they are set to be back in court in two weeks. As the suspects wait for their court dates, a memorial continues to grow near the driveway where Thompson was shot and killed.
Her father is told the public that day he spoke with FOX 2 that someone would pay for this crime.
"Somebody is going to pay for this. I don't know if it's the prosecutor or the people running around seeking and destroying," he said.
