(WJBK) - A Lions fan that sat during the anthem and became the victim of a racist post that went viral on social media, finally has a reason to smile.
The man was then banned for life from Lions games but his season tickets are going to good use thanks to another Lions fan from Warren.
"Tears of joy, tears of joy when I found out he purchased the tickets, and is giving them away to charity," said Stacey Graham.
Stacey is now crying tears of joy after tears of pain and anger in recent days. It was at the Lions home opener two weeks ago that a fellow season ticket holder photographed her sitting during the national anthem, then posted it on Snapchat with a racial slur.
The post was made by a Pontiac businessman went viral on social media.
"When I saw the Facebook message, the Snapchat, that occurred, it really kind after disturbed me deeply," said Andy Morse.
It disturbed a lot of people like Morse as the Lions revoked the man's tickets. That's when Andy had an idea.
"When I saw that occur, I kind of felt that I needed to help somehow,' Andy said. "I wanted to do something."
So he did. He contacted the Lions and asked to buy the tickets to donate them to a different charity every game.
"I wanted to reach out to Stacey and tell her what we were doing," he said. "Let her know the tickets would go to a good cause and that out of all this bad stuff some can good come out as well."
"I contacted Andy and said, 'Oh my gosh, you're incredible. That’s awesome,'" she said.
Stacey even invited him to tailgate and it turns out they both park in the same lot. Both are thrilled to see something so painful has turned into something so positive.
"This is incredible," Stacey said. "You can give back love and tolerance is really what it is really all about. So I probably will never get an apology, but this is awesome."
Morse will donate the tickets to a different charity for each game, this week's choice, Alternatives For Girls which helps empower homeless and high risk girls, helping them avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation.
