(FOX 2) - The National Weather Service confirmed at least four tornadoes touched down in Michigan following a string of severe weather that cut through Michigan's lower peninsula Thursday night.
After previously confirming a EF1 tornado traveled into Livingston County, NWS said two others touched down in Wayne County - one in Belleville and one in Canton. A fourth was confirmed in Kent County, just north of Grand Rapids.
State police also said at least one person died due to the storms. It happened along I-96, which was caught in the path of an EF1 cycle that produced 90 mph winds. It also left a trail of damage along the highway that shutdown access Friday.
Another EF1 tornado touched down west of Belleville and tracked southeast. It dissipated after three miles. In Canton, an EFO tornado produced wind speeds up to 80 mph and started just north of Pheasant Run Golf course. It also moved southeast and crossed numerous roads before dissipating near the lower River Rouge.
In Kent County, an EF1 tornado reached speeds of 110 mph and traveled 8.7 miles.
The destruction from inclement weather Thursday brought hundreds of thousands of power outages and flooding.
The governor has also declared a state of emergency for Wayne and Monroe counties after hundreds of homes were flooded from rain. They were also plagued by downed powerlines and felled trees.
In mid-Michigan, barns were destroyed and huge trees were also uprooted.
