The teen shot by police after allegedly charging at an officer with a lawn mower blade has died, police in Trenton tell FOX 2.
Police arrived at the home in the 2800 block of Longmeadow Drive after receiving a call about a 'highly disturbed male' who was possibly under the influence of a substance.
We're told officers attempted to subdue 18-year-old Kyle Baker with a taser, but they say he attacked an officer with a lawn mower blade, slashing hand. We're told the officer fired a single round, striking the teen in the stomach.
"I just saw the police come up, about six of them, and then they surrounded the house and then they ran back in the backyard, and that's all I saw from there. And then I saw ambulances show up, and that's all I know," says neighbor Richard Lavigne.
Baker later died at at the hospital.
He was a senior at Trenton High School. He was set to graduate June 5. Grief counselors will be available at the school for the remainder of the year.
The officer involved has been treated for the injury, and has been released from the hospital.
