TSA inspector rescues driver from burning vehicle

(WJBK) - A TSA Inspector is getting credit for rescuing a driver from a burning vehicle.

Amy Jishi was leaving work at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport when she drove by a accident at a stoplight. That's when she noticed one of the cars was leaking gasoline, and that a small fire had started under the car.

Jishi got out of her car and went to tell the driver that her car was beginning to burn. However, the driver's door was stuck.

Jishi worked with the driver to finally get the door open, and the woman was able to get out. Shortly after, the car burst into flames.

"It never expected to see something like that," Jishi said. "But when I saw the accident the only thought that went through my mind was to help them."

Jishi received a warm embrace from the driver as well as a heartfelt 'thank you' from the driver's mother.

"We are all proud of Amy's quick decision making and selfless actions," said TSA Federal Security Director Steve Lorincz. "She represents the type of dedication and service that TSA strives to deliver."

Jishi has lived in Dearborn Heights all her life, and has worked as a Transportation Security Inspector for the TSA at Detroit Metropolitan Airport for 8 years.
