FRENCHTOWN TWP., Mich (FOX 2) - Two people were arrested Saturday night in Frenchtown Township after a several hour stand off with police.
The situation started shortly after 1 p.m. when two people fired at two others in the 5500 block of N. Stoney Creek Road, about a half mile down the road from North Dixie Highway, near Jefferson Middle School.
"There’s a number of buildings on the property that are spread out over the property," Sheriff Troy Goodnough said. "As we engaged each structure the individuals did exit the home when we hauled them out with our PA system."
The alleged shooter, a 38-year-old man, is accused of using a shot gun to fire at a man he was arguing with.
The man and a woman were both arrested, according to Goodnough.
Police say they believe the argument started when the victim came to the house to get an automobile that was purchased. Goodnough said they don’t yet have all the details, the investigation is ongoing.
No one was injured in the initial fight, or in the ensuing standoff.
Multiple children were removed from the home after the two adults were arrested.
Police used a pair of drones to assist in the standoff, which Goodnough said helped to make the situation safer.
"We had two drones. We had our large drone overhead and a small drone we put it into the structures, and we could see who was in there, that’s how we were able to get them out safely," he said.
"We were methodical on how we handled it," Goodnough said. "We don’t want anybody to get hurt, offenders, officers or even bystanders."
Goodnough said the house is well known to the department.
"We’ve had a considerable number of calls for service to this residence over the years," he said.
