University of Michigan says situation is 'all clear' in surrounding area near Huron Parkway

 

Officials from the University of Michigan say things are all clear after one person threatened self-harm in an area on campus, leading to residents being advised to avoid the area.

The university's Division of Public Safety and Security sent an alert out at 9:24 p.m. stating that people should avoid the North Campus Research Complex Building 520. The alert was then updated 20 minutes later, expanding the area to 2800 Plymouth Road. 

The university said officers were on the scene. 

At 10:26 p.m., officials said the situation was ongoing in the parking lot between North Campus Research Complex and the University of MI Transportation Research Institute, which is on the east side of Huron Parkway. 

At 11:14, authorities said the situation involved an individual threatening self-harm.  

Ten minutes later, officials gave the all clear.
