Veteran salutes in front of 'Come Together' sign in Taylor

This tumultuous week ends with Veteran's Day - a day to honor the men and women who have served this country so bravely. This year, a Metro Detroit veteran used it as a chance to inspire the country to come together.

The unknown soldier was spotted at Telegraph and Eureka in Taylor Friday evening just before rush our.

He stood at the intersection with an American flag anchored by a tire and a hand-painted red, white, and blue sign that read "Come Together".

A viewer first sent the photo to FOX 2's Taryn Asher. She uploaded to her Facebook page which you can see below.

After we shared the post, another FOX 2 viewer commented that he posed with the flag while saluting. In that post, you can see the sign, he's holding the flag, and the tire behind the veteran.

FOX 2 sent a crew to try and speak with the mystery veteran, but by the time we got there - he was gone. Did you pass the saluting soldier or do you know him? Go to www.facebook.com/WJBKFox2Detroit and tell us about it!

The words come together could not be more applicable after this week.
