Detroit robbery victim runs onto freeway after being shot
A victim who had been shot during a robbery at a Detroit gas station early Christmas morning managed to drive away before he was seen running on I 94 near Van Dyke.
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A victim managed to escape after being shot during a robbery at a gas station early Christmas morning in Detroit.
Video from a gas station at Harper and Van Dyke showed two armed suspects approach the victim's SUV just before 3 a.m. Wednesday. The men opened fire on the victim, striking him in the chest.
After he was shot, the victim drove away from the gas station, crashed through the fence of I-94, and drove down onto the freeway before running from his vehicle on foot.
Police received a call about the man running on westbound I-94. While on the way to the scene, they also were called about the victim's SUV blocking the right lane of the freeway, and then learned about the robbery.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.
An investigation is ongoing.
