Volunteers needed for 2016 Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix

The Detroit Grand Prix Association is looking for volunteers for next year's race.

The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix returns to the Raceway on Belle Isle Park the weekend following Memorial Day, June 3-5, 2016. The three-day festival features racing, music, fun and more for the expected 100,000 fans that will visit Belle Isle throughout the weekend.

Event organizers are looking for about 1,100 DGPA volunteers to help prepare for the event and provide premiere service to all the visitors on Belle Isle over the course of race weekend.

To become a member of the DGPA and volunteer for the 2016 Grand Prix, visit www.DetroitGP.com and select the "Volunteer" link.

Quicken Loans will return for the fifth year as the event's official volunteer sponsor. The DGPA organizational model has been so successful that it has been adopted and implemented by other event volunteer initiatives across the country.

"We believe the dedicated volunteers at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix are the best in the business and we wouldn't be able to host this world-class event without their help and support," said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. "We hope to recruit about 1,100 DGPA members to help us host the 2016 Grand Prix. Last year, despite less than ideal weather conditions at the Grand Prix, our volunteers shined and never let the rain dampen their spirits. That's the kind of dedication and passion for our event that we are looking for and we are excited to welcome back returning and new members to the DGPA for 2016."

Some of the areas where volunteers are needed for the 2016 Grand Prix include: circuit marshals, customer relations, food services, chalet services, information booths, track services, ticket scanners, transportation/delivery services, ushers and more.

DGPA members are able to experience the event from a unique perspective leading up to, and during race weekend. Volunteers receive an event credential for each day of the Grand Prix, an official DGPA volunteer uniform, a lapel pin, free off-island parking and lunch provided each day during race weekend, as well as great DGPA benefits that include a membership patch, access to social events, including Kick-Off and Thank You parties, and unique discount offers from Grand Prix partners.

Volunteers are required to commit a minimum of 25 hours during race weekend (or in advance of the event) that will be divided into shifts depending on the volunteer area. To join the DGPA and volunteer for the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, individuals will pay a $15 annual membership fee.
