Warren first responders hold Christmas parade for 7-year-old son of injured officer

A convoy of first-responder vehicles with police and fire trucks with lights and sirens activated formed a surprise Christmas parade for 7-year-old Jack Kott.

Many of the vehicles were decorated in Christmas lights - and Santa even showed up in a decorated SWAT vehicle.

Jack is the son of Warren Police Officer Nick Kott, who was hurt after falling out of a tree stand while hunting last month — losing all feeling below his neck.

"It's been an uphill battle to say the least," said Lt. John Gajewski, Warren police.

Officer Kott is recovering at an out-of-state hospital with his wife at his side. It is a hard situation for any kid — any parent — that’s why the police department wanted to make Jack’s Christmas extra special.

"Jack all these guys are your dad’s friends. Many of them came all the way from Warren to wish you a Merry Christmas," Santa said.

Jack and his friends were surprised and given presents.

The parade was live-streamed to Officer Kott and his wife so they could watch.

The Warren Police Department wanted to send a message of support to Officer Kott and his family:

"You’re going to be taken care of, as long as we’re here," said Gajewski. "You’re part of our family. You’ll always be family and family takes care of family."
