Winter Weather Advisory: Several inches expected Friday into Saturday in Southeast Michigan
DETROIT (FOX 2) - A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect this afternoon as a round of snow targets Southeast Michigan.
Snow begins this afternoon, continues through the evening, and tapers off overnight. It will start with light snow in the afternoon that increases.
The advisory will be in effect from 1 p.m. Friday until 1 a.m. Saturday. The peak snowfall is expected between 2-9 p.m. Friday.
Totals are expected to reach 2-3 inches, with some areas seeing a bit more, especially more to the north and west.
It’s not a huge amount, but given how little snow we’ve had this season, it’s certainly worth noting.
Normally, the area has gotten more than double the snowfall it has experienced this winter.
Another system moves into the Great Lakes later Sunday into Monday, bringing some light snow.
Meanwhile, the cold sticks around with no big warm-up in sight. Temperatures remain below average for the foreseeable future.
